Neil Taylor filled Christ Church on Saturday for a virtuoso performance of the highest quality when he inaugurated the new church organ. The concert also included items by the Worrall Male Voice Choir.
Neil Taylor is the organist and Director of Music at Sheffield Cathedral, and regularly plays and directs work for the BBC, and at venues all round the world. Christ Church were very lucky to get an organist of his calibre to play such a wide variety of music. It showed off the capabilities of the new Phoenix organ. The organ has three manuals, 46 different stops, and a wide range of couplers, pistons and full audio capability to record and replay music. It is one of the best in the region and the audience enjoyed his work and the singing of the Worrall Male Voice Choir.
Some of our churches here also have wonderful organs and bring in extraordinary talent, especially at this time of the year. It is always among the most enjoyable experiences of the year. Nice clear photo, John. Did you take it?
