Memorial Project takes off

We’re thrilled by the reaction to our Memorial Project. Both Stocksbridge High School and Stocksbridge Junior School are keen to be involved.  (Another school has also been asked and we are awaiting a response after the holiday.)

We have now put an application in to the Arts Council for a grant to pay for Ian McMillan (shown in the picture here with Luke his music collaborator)  and other artists to write poems and run workshops in the schools.Ian and Luke copy

But even if we don’t get the grant, or all of it, we have a plan for Ian’s poem and the research project to go ahead with the schools.  We will reach out from Christ Church to so many people locally and around the world with this project.

The research group of young people and adulst are off an running with their individual cohorts of names to research.  People are being met in the Valley to provide input to the research.

A wood artist in Devon is creating a unique wood and leather binder for the pages we produce about each person.

We’ll start planning the Remembrance Day service on 10th November soon.
