Walk 60 miles in September Update

Here’s the latest news of Kevin Wild’s Sponsored Walk for Children with Cancer

14 September

Up early to catch the sun rising above Green Moor, then a steady walk to Wortley and return

Unfortunately illness curtailed my adventures somewhat during this week so kept to local walks from home

22 September

A 7 mile loop around Ashopton Bridge at Ladybower. A chilly morning but worth it for the lovely views. A bacon buttie at The Fairholmes cafe on the route was most welcome!

23 September

A walk I’ve never done before despite living relatively close by. Digley reservoir situated in Holmbridge just above Last of the Summer wine country town of Holmfirth.

There are two car parks with easy access.

Some ups and downs and a few “watch your feet” places but easy enough if you take it steady.

The Pickled Pheasant pub is nearby and I can say it’s well worth a visit if you fancy a drink and/or a meal.

Mileage update

This last walk took me over my personal minimum target of 100 miles and I intend to complete my charity walk on Sunday 28 September with a 13 mile stretch of the Tissington Trail in Derbyshire.

Hopefully I will conclude with final pictures, mileage and an announcement of the total money raised for Children with cancer.
