One of our church members, Kevin Wild is taking part in this challenge. It has been organised by the charity Children with Cancer UK.
Kevin is hoping to reach a minimum of 100 miles rather than the 60 in the challenge. He is being sponsored to raise money for this very worthy cause.

This is a photo from his first walk to North America, on the moors above Langsett Reservoir.
The walk was dedicated to the granddaughter of one of our church members who sadly died with cancer this month.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT KEVIN VIA SPONSORSHIP, PLEASE MESSAGE VIA THIS WEBSITE. THANK YOU

1st September
Up early to start my charity walk for Children with cancer UK.
Thought I would kick off with a good stretch from my doorstep up to North America on the Langsett Moors.
Traversed the route via Midhopestones Resevoir up to North America then back via Langsett Woods climbing to Upper Midhope before dropping down to Underbank Resevoir then onto the Steel Valley Walk finally finishing in Fox Valley.
Total walked 9.6 miles.

2 walks today
First a guided tour (recommended) around the Chatsworth Estate taking in the lovely village of Edensor. Started at the ‘Game Larder’ (see photo) where at one time up to 40000 game birds could be hung!
Then on to Edensor where for those who didn’t know holds the resting place of Kathleen Kennedy, sister of JFK, who visited her grave just months before his assassination.
Lunch in Castleton before a short loop across fields to Hope, taking in a decent view of the famous Hope Cement works.

Up early to catch the rising sun at the Trig Point up above Bolsterstone,
It’s beautiful up here and the views can be stunning.
I use an app called MapMyWalk to log my journey and if you look at this walk it’s shaped like a submarine.
Just over 7 miles today.
8 September
A walk from home down to Underbank walking alongside the old Manchester Road. First time I’ve been that side of the Reservoir so caught some lovely reflections despite the low water levels.
4.75 miles.
10 September
A visit to Wentworth today but a fairly easy walk of around 3 miles around this lovely village. Walked through the grounds of Wentworth Woodhouse then into the garden centre for one of their huge sausage rolls . You work up an appetite doing all this walking!
12 September
A 5 mile “there and back walk” from Dunford Bridge to the “Wild Wood Cafe” (see photo)
Picked up a book for the Grandkids from this lovely book store which has been built by “Men in sheds” and erected on the Trans Pennine Trail.
I’m now 57 miles in and determined to carry on
I’ve been blown away by the donations to this charity so far.
So many people wishing me well when they spot the T shirt.
It’s not been as easy physically as I thought it would be but I think of why I’m doing it and it keeps me going.
13 September

Done it! Celebrating 60 miles at Magic Wood Café on the Trans Pennine Trail.
Now pushing on for 100!
