Years ago our church collected for a motor-bike for a pastor in Ghana, so that he could travel round his distant churches. The banner that his church sent us in return hangs in pride of place on the wall of the main part of the church.
In more recent years one of our members, Larissa, has collected for JMA (Juvenile Missionary Association. She was incredibly dedicated and raised thousands of pounds during her time as a collector; over £800 just in her last year before going to college. She wanted us to find a way to continue this generosity and outreach to the world church.
So we have been discussing how we could do this, and recently we had a visit from the Overseas Division Co-ordinator for Africa, Dr. Olubunmi Olayisade, who spoke eloquently at our Harvest this year.
As a result of these conversations we have agreed to ask Bunmi to offer us a few suggestions of places where we could consider a “twinning” arrangement.
Here is the paper we considered at Church Meeting.
Over the coming weeks and months we hope that this project will come to fruition and we will begin to make a real relationship with a church in another part of the world. We’ll put updates here as we move forward.
